Tree Trimming & Removal
When should trees be trimmed?
Best in the Industry
If you’re trimming your tree in order to slow or direct the tree’s growth, summer is the best season to prune the tree. This will be performed as soon as possible after the tree is done growing for the season. Additionally, summer is best for removing defective or overly laden tree limbs, as they are most easily visible during the summer months.
Finally, if you are seeking to enhance the look of your flowering trees and shrubs, trimming will depend on the flowering season. If your tree flowers in the spring, trimming should be done after the flowers have faded. If they bloom in the mid- or late summer, the trees should be pruned in the winter or early spring.
It is never appropriate to prune during the fall months because this is when tree decay fungi are spreading their spores most prolifically. The pruning wounds will also be slower to heal. It is best to wait until the winter months before trimming your trees.
